This paper introduces apoint-based voxelization method to automatically transform point clouddataintosolidmodelsforcomputationalmodeling.Thefundamentalviabi lityofthetechniqueisvisuallydemonstratedforbothaerial andterrestrialdata.Foraerialandterrestrialdata,thiswasachievedinless than30sfordatasetsupto650,000points.Inallcases,thesolid models converged without any user intervention when processed in a commercial ?nite-element method program.
