媒介建构论视角下尼泊尔英文主流报纸涉藏报道研究 Title:AStudyofTibet-relatedCoverageinNepal'sMainstreamEnglish NewspapersfromthePerspectiveofMediaConstructionTheory Introduction: Mediaplaysacrucialroleinshapingpublicperceptionsandconstructing discoursessurroundingvarioussocial,political,cultural,andinternational issues.Withinthiscontext,themedia'sroleincoveringtheTibetissueisof particularinterest.ThispaperaimstoinvestigatethecoverageofTibet-related newsinNepal'smainstreamEnglishnewspapersfromtheperspectiveof mediaconstructiontheory.Byanalyzingtheframing,narratives,andbiasesin thenewsarticles,thisstudyseekstounderstandtheportrayaloftheTibet issueinNepal'smedialandscape. TheoreticalFramework:MediaConstructionTheory Mediaconstructiontheorysuggeststhatmediaoutletsactivelyconstruct representationsofrealitybychoosingwhichstoriestocover,howtoframe them,andthelanguageusedinreporting.Thistheoryemphasizestheroleof mediainshapingpublicopinionandinfluencingsocietaldiscourses.Applying thistheorytothestudyofTibet-relatedcoverageinNepal'sEnglish newspaperswillallowustocriticallyexaminehowthemediaconstructsand presentsinformationrelatedtoTibet. Methodology: Thisresearchemploysaqualitativecontentanalysismethodtoexaminenews articlesfromthreeleadingEnglish-languagenewspapersinNepal-The KathmanduPost,TheHimalayanTimes,andRepublica.Atimeframeoffive years,from2016to2021,isconsideredtoprovideacomprehensive examinationofthemedia'shandlingofTibet-relatedissues.Thesamplewill beselectedbasedontherelevanceofnewsarticlesfocusingonTibetor Tibet-relatedevents. Findings: 1.Framing:TheanalysiswillexploretheframesusedinreportingTibet-related news,suchaspolitical,cultural,religious,orhumanrightsframes.Thiswill helpidentifythedominantnarrativesportrayedinthemediacoverageand determineifanyparticularframeisfavoredorneglected. 2.Bias:Theresearchwillexamineanybiasesreflectedinthemediacoverage, includingthepositiveornegativeportrayalofTibetorpartiesinvolvedinthe Tibetissue.Itwillalsoanalyzethesourcesofinformationandtheircredibility. 3.Agenda-setting:ByexploringtheprominencegiventoTibet-relatednewsin Nepal'sEnglishnewspapers,thisstudywillassesstheagenda-settingpowerof themediaonthisissue.Itwillexaminewhetherthemediacoverageinfluences publicopinionorpolicydebates.
