This paper proposes an architecture for aremote automatic meter reading system based on Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) network. The system leverages the advantages of HFC network infrastructure to enable efficient and reliable meter reading. This paper discusses the components and functionalities of the proposed architecture, as well as the benefits and challenges associated with its implementation. 1. Introduction The meter reading process plays acrucial role in ensuring accurate billing and efficient management of utility services such as electricity, water, and gas. Traditional manual meter reading methods are time-consuming and prone to errors. In recent years, automated meter reading systems have gained popularity due to their ability to provide real-time data, increase operational efficiency, and reduce costs. 2. HFC Network Infrastructure Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) network infrastructure is acombination of fiber optic and coaxial cable systems. It is widely used for delivering high-speed data, voice, and video services. HFC networks are already deployed in many areas, making it an ideal platform for implementing a remote automatic meter reading system. 3. Architectural Components The proposed architecture consists of the following components: 3.1. Meters Smart meters equipped with communication modules are installed at consumer premises. These meters record the consumption data and transmit it to the central server through the HFC network. 3.2. Communication Infrastructure The HFC network infrastructure provides the communication
