Recently, our third-grade class has been sharing some English lesson plans with one another. It has been an incredible opportunity for all of us to learn from each other and come up with more innovative and creative ways to teach English to our students. One of the most interesting lesson plans that was shared was the use of storytelling to teach English. The teacher started off by telling asimple, but engaging story to the class. After the story was over, the teacher asked the students some questions about what they had just heard. The students were then asked to retell the story using their own words. This exercise helped to improve the students’ listening, comprehension, and speaking skills. It also helped them to think creatively and express their ideas in amore confident manner. Another teacher used songs to teach English. The students were taught acatchy tune with repetitive lyrics.
