Thesecomplexesweresynthesizedthroughaseriesofreactions involvingcoordinationofbipyridineligandstoaruthenium(II) precursorandsubsequentsubstitutionofthebipyridineligands withthebiphenyl-linkedimidazole. Introduction: Metalcomplexesplayasignificantroleinchemistrydueto theiruniquepropertiesthatarisefromthecoordinationofametal centerwithotherligands.Rutheniumcomplexes,inparticular, haveattractedattentionduetotheirdiverseapplications, includingphotocatalysis,photovoltaics,andmedicine.Bipyridine ligandsarecommonlyusedinthesynthesisofruthenium complexesduetotheirstrongbindingaffinityandversatile coordinationmodes.Inthisstudy,wefocusedonthesynthesis andcharacterizationofruthenium(II)complexeswithbipyridine ligandsbasedondimethylsubstitutedbiphenyl-linkedimidazole. ExperimentalSection: Thesynthesisoftheruthenium(II)complexesinvolvedseveral steps.Firstly,thecoordinationofbipyridineligandstoa ruthenium(II)precursorwascarriedoutusingaconventional syntheticmethod.Theresultingcomplexwasthensubjectedtoa ligandexchangereactionusingabiphenyl-linkedimidazole,which wassynthesizedseparately.Thecomplexesobtainedwere characterizedusingvariousspectroscopictechniques,including
