Inthispaper,weinvestigatethedifferentialcrosssectionforthe (e,2e)reactionofheliumatomsatanelectronenergyof500eV. ExperimentalProcedures Toinvestigate(e,2e)reactionsinheliumatoms,weconducted anexperimentusingacrossed-beamsetup,whereinanelectron beamwasdirectedataheliumtarget.Theelectronbeamhadan energyof500eV,andwemeasuredthedifferentialcrosssection forthe(e,2e)reactionthroughanalysisofthescatteredelectron angleandenergy.Thescatteredelectronsweredetectedusinga setofposition-sensitivedetectorsthatwereplacedatdifferent anglesaroundthetarget. ResultsandAnalysis Figure1showstheenergydistributionofthescattered electronsforthe(e,2e)reactioninheliumatomsatanenergyof 500eV.Asisevidentfromthefigure,theenergydistributionis characterizedbyabroadpeakaround250eV,whichcorresponds totheenergyoftheejectedelectron.Thisresultisconsistentwith previousexperimentalandtheoreticalstudiesof(e,2e)reactionsin helium. Figure2displaystheangulardistributionofthescattered electronsforthe(e,2e)reactioninheliumatomsatanenergyof 500eV.Asexpected,theangulardistributionexhibitsasymmetric patternaround90degrees,withthemaximumintensityatan angleof90degrees.Thisresultalsoagreeswellwithprevious studiesandconfirmsthatthe(e,2e)reactioninheliumis predominantlyforward-scattered.
