Taking Neijiang City as an example, this paper explores its leading industry selection and influencing factors. Through literature analysis and field surveys, it was found that the leading industries in Neijiang City are manufacturing and energy industries, which are related to its resource endowment and geographical location. At the same time, policy, human resources, and market demand are also important factors affecting the leading industries. Therefore, Neijiang City should continue to develop manufacturing and energy industries in the future. At the same time, the government should continue to implement preferential policies and improve talent training to promote the development of leading industries.
