The redness is caused by an increase in blood flow to the nose, which leads to inflammation and swelling of the blood vessels. Causes of red nose syndrome One of the most common causes of red nose syndrome is rosacea. This is achronic skin condition that affects the facial skin, causing redness, flushing, and bumps. Rosacea can also cause the nose to become red and swollen, and in severe cases, it can lead to the development of acondition called rhinophyma, which causes the nose to become deformed. Other causes of red nose syndrome include allergies, sinus infections, exposure to harsh weather conditions, such as extreme cold or heat, and excessive consumption of alcohol or spicy foods.
