Traditionalnanocatalystsoftenexhibitlowstabilityandpoor recyclability,leadingtohighproductioncostsandwastepollution. Inrecentyears,core-shellstructurednanocatalystshaveemerged asapromisingnewclassofcatalysts,withenhancedcatalytic performance,stabilityandrecyclability.Thisarticleaimstoreview thelatestdevelopmentsinthefieldofcore-shellstructured nanocatalysts. Core-ShellStructuredNanocatalysts Core-shellstructurednanocatalystsbasicallyrefertotheones whichinvolvetheformationofa“shell”arounda“core”.Each oftheseregionscanhavedifferentcompositions,creatinga “Janus”structurethatcanexhibithighlyadvantageous propertiesoverthetraditionalhomogenousnanocatalysts.The corecanbemadeupofavarietyofmaterialssuchasmetal,metal oxide,andmetalloidparticles,andtheshellisusuallymadeofan oxideorpolymermaterial. RecentProgressofCore-ShellStructuredNanocatalysts Inrecentyears,anumberofcore-shellstructured nanocatalystshavebeendeveloped,showingexcellentcatalytic activity,selectivity,andstability.Thesecanbeclassifiedinto differenttypesdependingonthecoreandshellmaterials. MetalCore-ShellNanocatalysts:Inthistypeofcatalyst,the metalshellcanpossessvariouspropertieslikestability,low toxicityandoxidationresistance.Thisenhancestheoverall catalyticactivitywhileincreasingthedurabilityofthecatalytic system.Thecorecanbemadeupofcommonmetalssuchasiron, cobalt,nickel,platinum,palladiumorgold,whiletheshellcanbe madeupofmetaloxidessuchassilicaoralumina.Forinstance, goldshellandpalladiumcore-basednanocatalystshavebeen showntoexhibitexcellentcatalyticactivityinthereductionof nitroarenesintoaniline.
