The book was the last major work of fiction to be produced by Hemingway and published in his lifetime. One of his most famous works. It ’s astory about aold man struggling with nature, though he was defeated at last, in some extent, he has already challenged himself and nature.Santiago, the hero of the story, had gone eighty-four days without taking afish back. At first, aboy named Manolion had been with him, but Santiagocatch even one fish. The boy had gone at his parents’ orders in alucky boat which caught three good fish the first week. Santiago is avery old Cuban fisherman, even he had been unable to catch asingle fish for totally eight-four days. He didn’ tgive up. he made his decision that he should fish again to get over the unlucky time. And he held the belief that he could do it and he would be lucky enough to fish, but meanwhile, he should go to deeper waters. On the 85th day, he caught amassive marlin.
