Teaching procedures: Step1 Lead in Show students ashort video about Xi’an to activate their knowledge of Xi’an, then, ask students: What’s your impression of Xi’an to learn some related words: ancient, architecture, amazing, cultural relic. Then ask students to name some cultural relics in Xi’an by showing them some pictures. Then learn abrochure about Terracotta Army. Step2 Read for the structure and contents Guide students to analyze the structure of the email and main contents of a travel plan: greeting, purpose, plan, transport, thoughts, close. Step3 Read for language Guide students to notice the sentences in atravel plan about When, Where, Why, What, How. Then, guide students to discuss in groups to brainstorm more expressions about When, Where, Why, What, How in atravel plan. At last, conclude the structure and language features of atravel plan email. Step4 Write Ask students to write areply letter to Richard by picking one city and sharing their travel plan in ten minutes.
