Methods: Plantsamplesofpeaandalfalfawerecollectedfromthe experimentalfieldoftheCollegeofAgriculture,Universityof ScienceandTechnology,namedasFarmA,locatedinthesuburbs ofthecity.Theplantsweregrowninnutrient-richsoilandwere harvestedafterreachingmaturity.Theplantsamplesweredriedat roomtemperatureandthencrushedintoafinepowder.The powderwasthensealedinapolyethyleneterephthalate(PET) container. TheSSNTDsusedinthestudywereLR-115typeIIdetectors obtainedfromtheHarwellResearchLaboratories.Theywere calibratedtomeasuretherangeofalphaparticles.Thedetectors werethenexposedtothepowderedplantsamplesforaperiodof onemonth.Aftertheexposureperiod,thedetectorswere removedfromthecontainers,etchedina2.5NNaOHsolutionfor 2hours,washedanddried.Thenumberoftracksformedwas countedusingamicroscopewithamagnificationof400x. Results: Themeannumberoftrackspercm²wasdeterminedforboth peaandalfalfa.Theboronconcentrationwasthencalculated usingacalibrationcurvethathadbeenpreviouslyestablished.The resultsshowedthattheboronconcentrationwashigherinthe rootsofpeaplantsthaninthestemsandleaves.Thehighest
