Currently, using the improved Maximally Stable Extremal Regions (MSER) algorithm for extracting infrared fault regions in power equipment has achieved good results. This paper addresses the problems of traditional MSER algorithm in extracting complex infrared images, and proposes a method based on improved MSER algorithm for extracting infrared fault regions in power equipment. This method first preprocesses the infrared images, and then uses the improved MSER algorithm to extract the fault regions. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has good accuracy and robustness in extracting infrared fault regions in power equipment.
