FluidDynamicsPerformance Thefluiddynamicsperformanceinthecirculationgas-lift stirredtankreactorismainlydeterminedbytheflowpatternsand velocities.Theflowpatternsandvelocitiesareinfluencedbythe gasandliquidflowrates,thegeometryofthereactor,andthe propertiesofthefluid.Ingeneral,theflowpatternsinthereactor canbeclassifiedasslugflow,bubblyflow,churnflow,andannular flow.Theflowpatternandvelocityaffectthemixingofthe reactantsandthedistributionofthereactantsinthereactor, whichinturn,affectsthemasstransferperformanceandchemical reactions. Toinvestigatetheflowpatternsandvelocitiesinthe circulationgas-liftstirredtankreactor,weperformed computationalfluiddynamicssimulationsusingANSYSFluent software.Thesimulationresultsshowedthatthereactoroperated inthechurn-turbulentflowregime,withameanflowvelocityof 0.2m/s.Thecirculatinggasflowratewasfoundtobethemain factorcontrollingthefluidvelocityandflowpatterninthereactor.
