Introduction The English teaching research group of our school has been playing asignificant role in improving the English teaching quality of our school. In this report, Iwill summarize the work we have done in the past year and evaluate its effectiveness. We have made progress in syllabus design, textbook selection, classroom teaching, and teacher development. Syllabus Design In the past, our English syllabus was not aligned with the national curriculum standards. Therefore, we had ahard time keeping up with the pace of teaching and meeting the requirements of the final exams. In the past year, we have thoroughly reviewed the syllabus and made significant changes to it. We have added some new chapters and units to the syllabus and revised some outdated materials. We also emphasized the teaching of essential skills like listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
