高职院校社工专业英语课程的授课方法初探 Introduction In recent years, the social work profession has experienced significant growth in China and has become an increasingly popular career choice among students in vocational colleges. As aresult, institutions now offer social work courses that aim to equip students with the relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to succeed in the field. This paper aims to explore various teaching methods used by vocational colleges for social work courses and assess their effectiveness in facilitating and enhancing student learning. Teaching Methods As with any academic discipline, social work courses require different teaching methods based on the nature of the subjects being covered and the students' learning styles. Among the most commonly used teaching methods for social work courses are: 1. Active Learning: Active learning is astudent-centered and participatory approach that involves students in the learning process's design, delivery, and evaluation. This approach often takes the form of group projects, case scenarios, simulations, and role-plays. Active learning ultimately helps students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and team-working capabilities. 2. Lecture Method: The lecture method is atraditional approach to teaching that involves an instructor or lecturer delivering aprepared speech to a group of students. This method is often used to introduce new topics or concepts, give background knowledge, and provide context for future learning. However, this method can be dull and lead to passive learning, losing students' attention and motivation. 3. Fieldwork: Social work is apractice-based discipline, and fieldwork lets students gain practical, hands-on experience in real-world settings. Many vocational colleges offer internships and practical placements in partnership with social organizations and agencies, giving students opportunities to hone their skills, work with vulnerable populations, and apply theoretical concepts to complex social issues.
